Grass and combinable land on the same holding
Mixed farms in Herefordshire rarely get a clean combinable story. Cattle traffic is part of the yield record whether the spreadsheet admits it or not.
A winter workshop that talks only about wheat on a mixed farm is a workshop that will be ignored by the person who actually moves the cattle. Desktop Routebase works in a county where grass, maize, potatoes, and cereals share gateways. The yield of a cereal field after potatoes is a potato story as much as a wheat story.
When we draw operations calendars, we include the days the trailer ran through a wheat stubble to reach a maize clamp, and the weeks a grass field was used as a wintering yard. Those days do not appear on a spray sheet. They appear as compacted gateways and as a cereal yield that never matches the soil type on the map.
If your holding is mixed, say so when you write to us. We will not pretend the combinable block lives in a separate parish. The review will still read the tickets. It will also ask who walked what, and when the gate was last moved.
